Mission Solano is asking for the community’s help in transporting veterans to the North Bay Stand Down in Dixon next week. The event, scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday at the Dixon May Fair grounds, provides all manner of resources for local veterans.

Many participants are homeless, officials said, and will be in need of a ride. Due to the government shutdown, the bus system that would normally transport the veterans from parks and Veteran’s Assistance facilities will not be able to run.

Which is why Mission Solano stepped up to lend a hand with bus service.

But with “pick up” spots all around Solano County (including Vallejo, Rio Vista, Fairfield and Vacaville) it will be impossible to reach all the veterans that need help in a timely manner. The need is great, officials said, and time is ticking away to honor the men and women who gave everything to fight for our freedom.

Mission Solano is looking for partners to help with this support. Bus drivers, buses and vans are all needed in this effort.
